Designing an app from the ground-up
Our research found that 80% of art gallery enthusiasts felt dissatisfied with the bidding experience being entirely in person. Since most of the dissatisfaction was from being in person, we made an app that allows the bidding process to occur remotely by placing and tracking bids. This solves the problem of having to make a bid offline.

DISCOVERY
Research + Analysis
The primary purpose of this research was to understand the experience of art “conessuirs”. This helps determine what new features could be implemented into a better experience and how they would stay on the app longer. Below are frameworks of the research synthesis and user story map that I have summarized from the findings I have made through participants that I have gathered.
LO-FIDELITY DESIGN
Concept + Sketching
The user research demonstrated that scanning was the most crucial feature. While sketching mockups, I added many ways to scan art.
MID-FIDELITY DESIGN
Wireframing
Using the research from the low-fidelity mock-ups, I created mid-fidelity wireframes. The time left on the bids was essential to the user, so it was a prominent feature for the mid-fidelity wireframes.
HI-FIDELITY DESIGN
Prototyping
TESTING
Validation, Usability, Feedback, + Iterations
Key Finding: “The scanning feature doesn’t make sense.”
I conducted an unmoderated research session with 28 participants using the prototype I created above. From our research, you can see that the scannability feature was not innately understood, which meant that the way it looked was going to be something that needed to be changed significantly. More one-on-one sessions were held to make the necessary changes.
With the data I have gathered, I made iterations to improve accessibility and key performance indicators (KPI).
ACCESSIBILITY ITERATION TO COMPLY WITH WCAG
To make it more accessible, there is a recommended bids so you don't have to type a bid and to understand the timer better it is now more of an icon.
KPI iteration based on data to optimize for conversion. The hypothesis gathered from the research was that over 50% of users needed help understanding the scan feature. Therefore, I needed to make this CTA more straightforward. Improving the call-to-action will increase the number of users successfully bidding on art.
